London Agency is pleased to add to its public affairs portfolio with the addition of experienced political staffer Mathew Langdon.
Mathew joins London Agency as Public Affairs Manager following half a decade of government experience as a media adviser for the former Minister for Health and Aged Care, the Hon Greg Hunt MP and his successor as the Federal Member for Flinders, Zoe McKenzie MP.
Reflecting on his time in public service, Mathew spoke about the advancements of healthcare over the last five years and potential for improved advancements in the future.
“Over the last half decade, Australia has seen great advancements and achievements in the health space,” Mathew said.
“Whilst COVID-19 has engulfed many other areas of public health in the last two years, it has led to fundamental shifts in healthcare in Australia.”
“One of the most important steps in the treatment of patients, whilst ensuring a reduction in the potential spread of COVID-19, was telehealth, a plan which has a 10-year pathway which, due to circumstance, was rolled out within 10 days.
“This fundamental update to how patients can converse with medical practitioners is undoubtedly one of the biggest changes to Medicare since its inception.
“In addition to this, we have seen great advancements in multiple fields of medical technology, all of which have the potential to help save lives and protect lives.”
Through COVID-19, Mathew was part of a three-person Ministerial media unit which worked on over 45,000 media enquiries in two years.
“It goes to show what can be achieved when motivated individuals strive towards a common goal,” Mathew said.
“I was blessed to be surrounded by some of the hardest working individuals in Australia through the pandemic and I am pleased to now bring my own experience to London Agency.”
As Public Affairs Manager, Mathew brings years of media relations experience to London Agency, providing counsel to clients from a range of medical sectors. His expertise includes political strategy, stakeholder engagement, media management, as well as strategic and crisis communications.
Before joining Minister Hunt, Mathew worked a variety of roles across the Australian tech and media sectors, including stints with News Corp Australia, Microsoft and Pacific Star Network.
Mathew holds a Bachelor of Journalism and a Masters of International Relations from Monash University.
